How To Set Up Parent/Сhild Property Connection?

Hostex allows you to create a child-parent relationship between properties (listings).

Situation 1

If your property consists of a house with 3 separate rooms, and you have created 3 individual listings on Airbnb for each of these rooms, as well as 1 separate listing for the entire house, then you will need to create 4 properties on Hostex to manage them: 3 of these properties will be linked to the individual listings for the 3 rooms, while the fourth property will be linked to the listing for the entire house.

Steps to set the child-parent relationship:

  1. Go to the Properties section.
  2. Click on the whole house property.
  3. Find Availability Control in General Settings.
  4. Check the Parent & Child Properties box.
  5. Select the child properties linked with those 3 rooms.

This will allow guests to book individual rooms while still leaving the other rooms available for booking. And, if a guest books the entire house, all 3 rooms will be unavailable for booking.

Situation 2

If you have a room with 4 beds in it, these 4 beds correspond to a listing with 4 inventory on Airbnb, and the whole house is another listing.

Then you need to create 5 properties on Hostex to manage them.

4 properties need to be in a room type, and link the 4-bed listing to this room type. And link the listing of the whole room to the other property.

And then set the child-parent relationship:

  1. Go to the Properties section.
  2. Click on the whole room property.
  3. Find Availability Control in General Settings.
  4. Check the Parent & Child Properties box.
  5. Select the 4 child properties that represent those 4 beds.

Now, when a guest books 1 bed in this room, the other 3 beds can still be booked, but the room as a whole will be unavailable.

Note that if you manually block out dates on the Parent Property‘s calendar, the dates won’t get blocked on the child property’s calendar. And vice versa, blocking out dates on the child’s property won’t get blocked on the same dates on the Parent Property‘s calendar.
