Gap Management – Allowing Bookings with Stays Less Than the Minimum Stay Limit

Hosts often set a minimum stay—like 4 nights—to streamline operations and increase revenue. However, between bookings, gaps sometimes appear that are shorter than the minimum stay (e.g. a 3-night gap between two reservations). These dates go unbooked, even though you’d love to fill them.

Previously, you’d need to manually adjust your minimum stay every time. Now, Hostex handles it for you.

What is Gap Management?

Hostex’s gap management feature automatically detects short gaps in your calendar and updates the minimum stay for those dates, matching the exact length of the gap.

No more manual updates. No more missed opportunities.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Go to Automation in your Hostex dashboard.
  2. Click Create New Rule for Gap Management.
  3. Set a threshold value (in nights).
  4. Click Save.

That’s it! From now on, any gap shorter than your threshold will automatically adjust its minimum stay to match the gap length.

Notes

  1. If multiple rules apply to the same property or room type, Hostex will use the rule with the shortest minimum stay.
  2. If the gap is longer than the threshold, and the current minimum stay inside that gap is already longer than the gap, Hostex won’t make any changes.
